In the Fall of 2009, Rotary Club of Saanich received a District Simplified Grant for humanitarian reasons to supply the Jolly Children’s Academy in Uganda with scholastic supplies for one year, a cupboard to store these supplies as well as 80 school desks. All supplies were purchased in Uganda and the school desks were constructed by local carpenters. Jolly Children’s Academy is operated by Action For Children in Uganda. There were three Rotarians involved from our club: Jim Sparling was there at the start of the project in November and Geoff & Leanne Stokes were there in April to see the completion and write the report. You can see by the smiles on these student’s faces just how much they appreciate this partnership.
